Eintracht Frankfurt v West Ham 2nd leg semi final Europa League (agg score 2-1)

Just Ogbonna and Johnson not available. Reported that Johnson has a thigh injury.

Team kind of picks itself. I think the only question is which 2 you put in the attacking midfield from Lanzini, Fornals and Benrahma. All 3 have been a bit below par recently. I'd start with what has been Moyes first choice as it's better defensively and we must avoid letting in the first goal. Although I think Fabianski is the better keeper, Areola has definitely earned starting.

Areola
Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell
Soucek, Rice
Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals
Antonio

Just watched brief highlights of the Rangers game. Great energetic performance. It just contrasted how leggy we looked.

Are players are fucked. Moyes should be done for cruelty to humans.

Once is forgivable yet still questionable. Twice is downright negligent and he has to be answerable. His I’ll discipline May we’ll have cost the club millions

I think we'd all like to pick that striker we signed in January but in his absence we don't really have much of a choice!

Coufal in for Johnson, otherwise it's the usual lot.
Moyes would never chang it. Tried and trusted.

Waste of a place

As mentioned team largely picks itself particularly if Johnson is out.

The ONLY question mark is whether he goes with Benrahma or Lanzini. I imagine it's Lanzini though, with Benrahma on for the last 20-30 minutes.

After reading through, I make it the manager has about 30,000 different scenario’s what to do tonight, and to choose what tactics?
Of course depends how they go about the game determines our play.

First, god I hope we don’t start like we did last week! If we don’t I can see a cagey fairly quiet first half, they will want to protect their lead, we won’t want to concede first.
Then in the second half we have to twist at some point to try to equal the tie.

If we go for it early, great if we get that goal but fear we will use a lot of energy to wear them down if that goal is a long time coming.

Fucking hell, whatever happens.
COYI!

I think with the defenders worrying about Antonio, it would give Yarmolenko some space to move and bring others into play.
Playing Antonio and Bowen next to him I think could work. As I said Antonio gets into those spaces on the left.
Don't get me wrong here, Yarmolenko isn't some sort of messiah and will definitely win us the game all I'm saying is maybe its time to not be so easy to read regarding team selection from Moyes and take the game to them from the start.

Steve, of course it's just opinion but for me Yarmalenko has not done enough in the games he has started. He has only contributed from the bench.

"Yarmo has to start to give us any chance of progressing to the final."

Yeah because Yarmalenko has been crucial to us this season when he has played from the beginning.

"In fairness Yarmolenko has actually scored important goals for us.......one or two in HUGE games aswell......."

He has scored 1 HUGE goal for us against Seville, when he came off the bench. The other goal was a league game against Villa, which was also from the bench.

I am not saying he can't have an impact, but whenever he starts he's dogshit. Bring him on if we are flat and out of options but don't start him.

Scott I don't see what he doesn't bring in all honesty.
He is another option we can use. As I said Hinterreger did a number on Antonio last week and his attitude seems a bit off to me right now. Yarmolenko has scored important goals, played a part in big games. Whats to say he can repeat that tonight especially as no one will expect him to play.

I know it goes against the form book but I cant help but think that Benrahma is more likely to win the game for us that Lanzini.

I actually can't remember being more anxious about a game than this one.

Yarmo has to start to give us any chance of progressing to the final.

However, he should not be starting in place of Antonio.

I honestly don't understand what anyone could have seen in Yarmalenko to suggest that he is actually an option for us up front.

Even Vlasic gives us more than Yarmalenko.

I understand playing Jonson to stop kostic but we basically lose our attacking threat down the right hand side.

We can stop kostic if we don’t sit back and pin their wingbacks back on the defensive

I don't really like it but perhaps play three at the back to help protect our flanks:

Areola
Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell
Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Johnson
Bowen, Fornals (or Lanzini)
Antonio

As long as Benrhama isn't in it, we will win.

Probably.

Re: Team for Eintracht Frankfurt v West Ham 2nd leg semi final Europa League
Johnson can replace Cresswell on the left being better defensively with Coufal on right, but we will miss Cresswells deliveries. Alternatively Johnson could play on the right as Coufal is slower up against arguably their best player Kostic.

They gave us lots of problems down both flanks so they know that's our weakness, everyone needs to step up.

Cheers Ludo
I wonder will.he stick with Johnson doing a marking job on Kostic? Which for me didn't work.
